IVGID Youth Advisory Council (YAC)
Grades: 6th - 12th
The YAC addresses issues of education, employment, recreation, youth development, volunteerism and leadership. They are responsible for programs, events and initiatives that promote positive youth development
and involvement in local schools, communities and governments.

Youth Advisory Council Conference! March 3rd
On March 2nd evening we will be taking a trip to Santa Clara for the YAC Attack Conference . We will spend the night in a hotel and attend the YAC Attack on March 3rd which is a one-day conference designed by teens for teens. It will offer educational sessions, thought-provoking debates, quality networking opportunities, and innovative ideas to bring back to the Incline Village community. Breakfast and lunch are included on the day of the conference. It will look excellent on your resume and/or job and college application. It will also count for volunteer hours and will be FUN! Anyone from 6th-8th grade is welcome – please pre-register ASAP for the Early Bird deadline!
***I will hold an informational meeting about YAC Attack on Thursday, February 2nd right after school in the Kidzone Room of the Rec Center, to answer any questions you might have.

Girls Night In
Grades: 6th - 8th
Come hang with just the girls at Girls Night In! Our evening will include fun games, tips and tricks for hair and skin care by a salon professional, dinner, snacks, volleyball, and a wild after-hours scavenger hunt at the Rec Center! This program is for middle school girls ONLY! Come in your PJs!

Teen Dances
Grades: 6th - 8th
The Parks & Recreation Department sponsors 4 teen dances during the school year.
Sweethearts Swing: Middle School Dance
We have a great DJ that plays all of the latest music. Appropriate dress and behavior is required to attend. No glow items are allowed. All Incline and Lake Tahoe school, and Sage Ridge students are welcome to attend! “Crush” sodas will be sold – give one to your “crush”!

Fee: $8/person with student ID card, $1 off each if paying for 2 tickets
Location: D.W.R. Reynolds Community Center, 948 Incline Way
Leaders in Training Education (LITE) ~ SUMMER ONLY
Ages: 12 - 16 years
Learn about leadership, asset development, responsibility and service to others while gaining valuable work experience for future jobs! LITE’s assist Recreation Leaders with summer programs and help lead activities, games, sports, crafts and field trips to various locations. For more information visit our website. Program fee is $38 or $30 w/IVGID Pass. Applications are due Friday, May 18th for Summer 2012.
Shotokan Karate
All Ages
This class is designed for everyone interested in learning the art of Karate. The beginner or the advanced student will be able to make great progress in self-defense and benefit from improved physical and mental health, self-discipline and self-confidence. This is an ongoing class.
