Youth Advisory Council (YAC)

Grades 6th-12th

The YAC addresses issues of education, employment, recreation, youth development, volunteerism and leadership. They are responsible for programs, events and initiatives that promote positive youth development and involvement in local schools, communities and governments. Applications for the 2010-2011 school year are due by September 30. Click here for the application .  

Mission: We aim to advocate for and provide the youth of Incline Village with a sense of community through volunteerism and active involvement.

Summer Camp XTREME

Looking for adventure for your little one? Then Camp Xtreme is your answer! Join us for a summer of fun! An experienced and responsible staff lead campers on numerous exciting adventures. Campers will enjoy weekly themes. Mixed in with the adventures are weekly visits to the pool, the Tennis Center, Recreation Center, and the driving range. Additionally, campers will engage in hands-on activities and field trips each Thursday. Click here for field trip descriptions .  Arts & crafts, games contests and more. This camp is sure to challenge, excite and wear out your child! Kidz Club Before & After School Program

Grades:  K - 5

Our energetic, safety minded and fun Youth Development Staff is here to make certain your child has a great after school experience. Youth will get an opportunity to participate in games, create art projects, work on homework and receive healthy and delicious snacks. Scholarships are available. A new scholarship application is required for each school year.

Days:    Monday - Friday (no program on school holidays, snow days and June 14-16)
Time:    Before School:    7:30 am - 9:00 am
    After School:    2:45 pm - 6:00 pm
    Early release days:    12:45 pm - 6:00 pm

Tahoe Tiny Timber’s Gym Time

Ages: 0 - 5 years

Tahoe Tiny Timber’s Gym Time is designed to give children, birth to 5 years of age, time to socialize and use their gross motor skills. This is an open gym for parents and/or caregivers to play with their children in a stimulating environment. Children are encouraged to explore at their own pace and desire. Parent or caregiver must be present during the entire playtime.
 
Day:    Tuesdays until May 19th (begins again on October 12th)  No session during school holidays
Time:     9:30 am - 11:00 am
Location:     Recreation Center Gym
Fee:     $4, w/IVGID Pass $3


XTREME Teens

Ages: 11 - 16 (Grades 6th - 9th)

Parents, are you looking for supervised recreation for your teen? Teens, are you looking to get away from your parents for a day? Take this opportunity to gain self-confidence and responsibility! All trips are supervised by well trained staff. Give your teen the opportunity to make new friends from around the lake! Date/Trip Descriptions: 
On June 29th, we will be venturing over to the Squaw Valley adventure center to go through the ropes course.  There are a variety of rope challenges, including both high and low ropes courses.  Participants will be belayed by experienced staff and will gain self-confidence and teamwork skills.

July 13th - We are heading to the Yuba River for a relaxing day of sunbathing and swimming in beautiful emerald pools.  We will hike a short distance to some unique rock formations and a secluded area to spend the afternoon.  A certified lifeguard will be on duty to keep swimmers safe.

July 20th - We are going to Timber Cove in South Lake Tahoe for day on the lake.  We are renting out kayaks for everyone and a paddleboard for those feeling adventurous.  We will sack lunches from home on the beach and spend the afternoon paddling around South Lake in Kayaks.  A certified lifeguard will be on duty all day.

July 27th - We will drive south to Angora Lake, near Fallen Leaf Lake.  Here, we will spend the day on the beach, swim in the lake (which will be much warmer than Tahoe!) and explore the surrounding woods.  A certified lifeguard will be on duty to supervise swimmers.

August 3rd - "Geocaching" is an outdoor treasure hunt with GPS units.  We will head to the Northstar Village, eat our sack lunches and rent GPS units.  In the afternoon, we will use the GPS units to track down hidden "caches" with GPS coordinates from an online database.  Be prepared to hike several miles.

August 10th -We are taking to the river!  We will be floating down the Truckee River from Tahoe City to the River Ranch near Alpine Meadows in rafts.  Swimming, splashing, napping and snacking will be encouraged.

Teen Dances

Grades: 6th - 8th

The Parks & Recreation Department sponsors four teen dances. We have a great DJ that plays all of the latest music. Appropriate dress and behavior is required to attend our dances. No glow items are allowed. All Incline and Lake Tahoe school students are welcome to attend!

Reggae By the Pool Back to School Splash Bash


There’s no better way to welcome the new school year than a big party at the Incline Recreation Center pool! Join us for reggae beats, a barbeque dinner, a limbo contest, diving contest and inner-tube water polo! Just $8 gets you into the pool, a delicious BBQ dinner and a chance to win some great prizes!
